June 2026 President’s Message

One of the things I love most about being part of this guild is the opportunity to learn something new. Last month, I took the New York fastindexme.com Beauty class, and it reminded me how energizing it is to stretch our skills. We learned a foundation paper‑piecing technique that didn’t require tearing off the paper afterward — a small joy for anyone who has ever popped a stitch doing that! Our instructor even showed us how to use our scraps to make a smaller version of the quilt, which felt like a bonus project waiting to happen.

My own piece uses Christmas fabric, so I still have time before it becomes a UFO… although I’m not sure when that official transition happens. Maybe that’s a topic for another month.

What this class really made me think about is how important it is for our guild to offer workshops that inspire you. We were able to share instructor Linda Hahn with the Charlotte Guild, which helped with travel costs — and it reminded me how much planning goes into bringing quality teachers to our members.

So I’d like to hear from you: What techniques, skills, or teachers would YOU love to see us bring in next? Our 2nd VP, Sharon, works hard to plan classes that match your interests, and your input truly helps shape what we offer.
