UPDATE: Join us beginning at 4:00 PM and bring a snack or finger food to share! Plates, napkins, and forks will be provided.
Join the York County Quilters Guild for our July Monthly Meeting and Annual Outreach Sew-Along — a meaningful evening of quilting, fellowship, and community service.
During this special hands-on meeting, members will work together to create quilt blocks for our Community Outreach quilts, helping provide comfort and care through quilting to those in need within our community. Members are asked to sign up in advance for one of three volunteer stations: sewing, pressing, or cutting.
Whether you are an experienced quilter or simply want to lend a helping hand, there is a place for everyone to participate. Together, we can make a difference one stitch at a time while enjoying an evening of creativity, teamwork, and quilting friendship.
During our July guild meeting, we’ll once again gather for our Annual Charity Sew Night! Each year, members work together to create beautiful quilt blocks that are transformed into quilts for those in need. It’s always an evening filled with laughter, teamwork, and the joy of stitching for a great cause.
This year, we’ll be making string quilt blocks. Outreach will provide all the fabric strips and muslin foundation squares—you just bring your helping hands!
Getting Started
The church doors will open at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20.
If you’re bringing a sewing machine, the easiest entrance is on the Oakland Avenue side of the church, where you’ll find a convenient ramp. A guild member will be stationed there to welcome you and help you get inside.
How You Can Help
There’s a job for everyone! We’ll need volunteers to:
-
Sew string blocks
-
Press completed blocks
-
Trim blocks to size
Whether you’re behind a sewing machine or helping at the pressing or cutting stations, every role makes a difference.
What to Bring
Please bring the equipment needed for the job you’d like to do:
-
A sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, and neutral-colored thread
-
An iron and pressing mat
-
A rotary cutter and ruler
-
Extension cords—we can always use a few extras!
-
Snacks, drinks, or a treat to share
Most importantly, bring your biggest smile and wonderful sense of humor!
Come spend an evening sewing, visiting with friends, and making a difference—one stitch at a time. We can’t wait to see you there!
